This card demonstrates that you’ve completed an approved boating safety course and helps keep our community safe on the water. Operating a motorized vessel without a valid Boater Card can result in fines. More importantly, boating safety education helps protect you, your passengers, and our Clear Lake community.

How to Get Your Card

1. Apply for Your Card - Visit the California Boater Card Application Site to apply and get your registration number.

2. Complete a Free Online Course - Once you have your application number, sign up for the free BoatUS Online Safety Course.

   • The course is self-paced and can be completed online.

   • Upon completion, you’ll receive a certificate that allows you to finalize your Boater Card application
